The first examinations by Barca’s medical team suggest that Leo Messi has suffered ligament damage to his right ankle, but there is no evidence of a broken bone. More tests will be carried out on Monday to assess the full extent of the injury.
The dramatic images of the world’s best player clearly in great pain being stretchered off after a vicious 92nd minute foul by Ujfalusi, who received a straight red, were quickly followed by initial medical explorations that showed ligament damage in the Argentinean’s right ankle, but no apparent break, as many fans watching the game must have feared.
Pep Guardiola spoke of his star’s injury after the game: “he’ll be having more tests tomorrow, but in principle a break has been ruled out. He’s injured and the doctors will tell us how he is. Let’s hope the first diagnosis is correct and we can help get him fit again. He’s very sad and in tears. These things happen in football”.
Guardiola was tight lipped about Ujfalusi’s foul and called on reporters to show responsibility: “the pictures of the incident speak for themselves I imagine. I’d ask you to show responsibility about these kinds of things. This isn’t something new, it’s been going on for a while – look, if there is proof and it looks suspicious…
I started watching football in world cup 1986 I was 8 and I experienced the emergence of the great one (El Diego). What happened to Messi last night is simply “A LOW DOWN DIRTY SHAME”. The question is why such incidents still exist in today’s professional sports world. It happened to Maradona when he was in Barca some 26 years ago. We have seen similar attacks on great ones like Pele and Van Basten, the list doesn’t end. I recall back in 2006 during the quarter final game of the C.L between Ville Real and Inter Milan when Materazzi directed a cheap elbow attack straight to the eye of Juan Pablo Sorín and there was blood everywhere, I though back then that a player with such uncivilized behavior must not be allowed to play in that year’s world cup which was a few weeks ahead, and everybody saw what happened in the final game of world cup 2006 due to his uncivilized nature when he forced another great player to strike him cause of what nasty words that came out of his mouth. The point is that with all the money the sport has circulating in its orbit the nature of players and their cultural background does not change or upgrade in an instant, there should be schools for professional athletes to teach them how to change the way they perceive the world after they become Pros. I am not a fan of Holland’s national team but nobody can deny the loss of Van Basten when he still had a lot to give to the sport. The time has come for the creation of a body within the fifa the UEFA and every league, which would be concerned with the player’s behavior and psychology not just his talent. Such a body will have representatives who would watch every game and give recommendations to the association on who must be put under the microscope as an unfair player. I am not talking about the usual fouls seen every once and awhile I am talking about the direct intentional attacks we all now and see in strange occasions and it gets even weirder when the punishment is not as harsh as it should be.

Ujfalusi, should be made to miss each football match due to be played until Messi is fit and playing again. He should also forfeit his wages to Messi’s favourite charity.
These types of career threatening tackles must be stopped.
Ujfalusi, has deprived football of a genius.
Get well soon, Lionel Messi.
he will only grow better after his recovery. Just Like Ronaldo ( brazilian one) did
