Josep Guardiola the Barcelona Manager believes after the European Champions League Final that Lionel Messi should be awarded the Ballon d’Or.
Messi has been on fantastic form this season for both Barcelona and Argentina and his statistics do not lie.
Personally I believe during the Champions League Final, Messi showed why he was the best in the world. He controlled the middle of the park and helped dominate possession, which was crucial if Barca were to conquer Europe. In all fairness I think Messi embarrassed the United defence at times.
Messi scored the winning goal that sent Man Utd crashing out of the cup, his goal sealed their first defeat in two years. Guardiola commented “I guess he will already be writing his name on the Ballon d’Or. But he doesn’t need to win that to know he is the best He never hides and is always available in the most difficult of situations.”
