Messi Rejects Madrid Speculation

Lionel Messi has dismissed any suggestion he could be tempted to leave Barcelona for Real Madrid.

Madrid have been linked with a move for Messi on a number of occasions in recent years, and reports earlier this month suggested they could try to unsettle the player by offering to pay the buy-out clause in his contract.

However, the 22-year-old has always stressed his commitment to his current club and has again rejected talk he could make a shock exit.

“The truth is that I don’t ever see myself in Madrid or at any other club,” he told Sport. “I’m very happy at Barcelona and if it were up to me I would continue here for many years.

“It is true that you never know what will happen but I insist that will never be for me because I want to stay at Barcelona for all the time I have left playing and more.”

Madrid will be hoping to steal the title from Barcelona today. A win for Barcelona against Vallodolid is all the Catalan’s need to win the title, should the fail to do, Real will be waiting to pounce upon them.
