La Liga Bosses Discuss Messi Form

A host of Spanish top-flight managers have today been quizzed about the form of the FIFA World Player of the Year, Lionel Messi.

Mallorca coach Gregorio Manzano has declared that it would take a shotgun to stop in-form Barcelona striker Lionel Messi. The Balearic outfit hostthe Argentinian talisman and the champions on Sunday at the Ono Stadi.

“You need to bring a shotgun, pam-pam and that’s it,” Manzano joked at a press conference. “You must pressurise him so that he doesn’t receive the ball. It’s clear that if you put a man on him to try and block him you can have a mess on your hands.”

Deportivo La Coruna coach Miguel Angel Lotina has declared that Barcelona striker Lionel Messi is the most complete player he has ever seen and better than Diego Maradona.

“For a long time, for many years I have been saying that he [Messi] is the best I’ve ever seen. For me he is the most complete player I have ever seen and he is better than Maradona,” Lotina told a press conference.

Finally, The television program El Dia Despues has revealed a conversation between Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola and a Zaragoza fan in the stands during Sunday’s Liga encounter between the Aragonese and the Catalunyan club.

With the camera recording Guardiola’s pensive reaction after Lionel Messi’s second goal of an eventual hat-trick, a strike that saw the Argentine weave through a number of panicked Zaragoza defenders on the way to goal, the Blaugrana coach turned behind the Barcelona bench and confided in a Zaragoza fan: “If it were not for Messi, I would be coaching in La Segunda [Division].”
