Speaking after winning the UEFA Supercup victory in Monaco, Pep Guardiola spoke about Lionel Messi in a way which he has avoided over the last 12 months, by calling him the best player he’s ever seen. In Guardiola’s surprise comments he told reporters, “He’s a unique player, and the best player I’ve ever seen and I think I’ll ever watch. It is fortunate that he is at Barca, is a fundamental part of our team “he said.
Messi was inspirational in the victory, brilliantly assisting younger Pedro to score the decisive goal, but the coach was confident that the strain of playing 120 minutes will not affect his players.
Additionally, the coach hailed the signing of Chygrynskiy, from their opponents on the night, Shakthar. “I congratulate the club for bringing in this player. The feeling I have is that Barca have made a great signing.”
