Monday, February 9th, 2009

A 10th consecutive victory for Barcelona in a 3 – 1 win over Sporting Gijon in La Liga. Star man Samuel Eto’o scored a brace whilst Lionel Messi contributed to the win.

Messi cut infield from the right side and cut a pass to Samuel Eto’o and rifled the ball home after skinning the embarrased defender Gerard Autet. Lionel was a constent pain for Sporting Gijon

The win for Barcelona gives them a 12 point gap at the top, they are looking and playing like Champions. They are a very good bet for being crowned champions of Europe aswell in the UEFA Champions League.

Lionel Messi is back in the Argentina squad after missing the last friendly against Scotland.

Messi missed the Scotland match, due to an agreement with Barcelona and Argentina, which stated that if he was to play in the Beijing Olympics, then he wouldn’t be allowed to feature in the friendlies.

Also in the news, David Beckham and Ronaldinho are back in the England and Brazil team, thanks to first team action for AC Milan.

Barcelona claimed another victory, this time it was a 2 – 0 triumph over Mallorca in the Copa Del Rey Semi Final leg one. Lionel Messi was named on the bench, just like the previous game against Racing Santander.

On the 58th minute, Messi came on for Thierry Henry, but in this fixture he didn’t put the ball in the back of the net.

Fabio Capello – Lionel Messi Vs Cristiano Ronaldo

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

This is going to stir up some excellent debate in the media, who is the best, Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo?

Fabio Capello has stuck his neck out and on the website earthtimes and commented “Ronaldo is very good, Messi is brilliant.” he went on to say “No one in the world has the talent that Messi has”

Nothing sitting on the fence from Fabio Capello, not sure if he’s right though, they are both as equally as talented.

I honestly believe this is round 1 of the Lionel Messi (Barcelona) Vs Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United) debate.
